One of the 10 most downloaded photo apps

Who doesn't like sending a real postcard? And you can also send a personalized one using an online service – quickly and easily. The messages, congratulations, greetings and photos are created digitally by users and sent without any effort as a real postcard via an online service. That has long been common practice using a PC with an Internet connection and is also growing in importance for use on mobile devices. http://www.pokamax.de with its slogan "Hier geht Deine Post ab!" ("And off you go!") is focusing increasingly on this trend and has commissioned Noxum to implement its business apps.

Würzburg, October 13, 2011– Noxum GmbH, a specialist for content management and editorial systems, is creating business apps for PokaMax, a leading provider of services for sending real postcards worldwide over the Internet. PokaMax is thus expanding its business model to include mobile devices that run the operating systems Android and Windows Phone.

Previously, PokaMax had only offered its service to customers who had a PC with an Internet connection or an iPhone. As a result of growing sales of smartphones with the Android and Windows Phone operating systems, PokaMax also decided to apply its business model to these mobile devices in order to reach an even broader consumer base.

When PokaMax set about choosing a provider, Noxum impressed it with its extensive practical experience in developing business apps and mobile websites for renowned companies such as the consumer association Stiftung Warentest or exhibition company NürnbergMesse. In these projects, Noxum was able to demonstrate in particular its skill in managing content and payment processes with its web technology and integrating it with a wide range of different external applications.

The main challenge as regards the business apps for PokaMax was not only to create an appealing and user-friendly design, but also to link existing online technologies with the functions of the respective smartphones. Thanks to an end-to-end, intuitive concept for the apps, users can either select a photo they have just taken directly from their smartphone or choose a motif from the PokaMax template database for their postcard. Users can optionally write something on the photo, enter the greetings and recipient for the back of the card and then send everything to PokaMax for printing. A status and message system integrated in the apps informs them whether the data has been completely transferred to PokaMax so that the postcard can be mailed – to anywhere in the world. Once the postcard has been created, users are immediately redirected to the payment screen, where they can pay for the service using their PokaMax credit balance, via PayPal or by instant bank transfer directly from their smartphone.

The business model and technology pay off

By opting for Noxum, PokaMax has obtained the ideal service provider for creating and marketing its app: User were so impressed with the functionalities that, shortly after it was published, the Windows Phone app shot to the top spot for the most popular postcard apps and into the top 10 for the most downloaded photo apps.
