With the latest update to the Noxum plugin for Adobe InDesign®, users benefit from targeted improvements in operation, stability, and automation. The extension combines creative layout processes with valid data from the PIM and content management systems Noxum Publishing Studio and NovaDB, thereby supporting efficient, consistent print production.
Würzburg, July 30, 2025 – Noxum GmbH, a specialist in content management and editorial systems, is providing comprehensive updates for the Noxum plugin for Adobe InDesign®. The extension has been specifically revised to better meet the requirements of marketing, creative, and DTP departments.
The Adobe® InDesign® Plugin to Import Media enables the direct integration of structured content from Noxum Publishing Studio and NovaDB into the Adobe InDesign® layout program. Texts, images, tables, and product information can be specifically placed, updated, and controlled in variant management. The solution supports both semi-automated and manual workflows, combining creative layout with reliable publishing.
More creative freedom in layout preparation
The latest update focuses on further enhancing the already proven user experience and improving typical layout processes to make them more efficient.
One area of focus was the handling of placeholder frames in InDesign. These now receive the correct paragraph format even without inserted text. This allows predefined areas—such as for product features or other standardized content—to be prepared in advance in terms of layout. This facilitates early design in marketing, preserves formatting when content is inserted later, and brings significant advantages for prepress, especially in modular typesetting systems.
Layouts adapt automatically
Another area of improvement concerns the handling of overflowing frames. Layout objects that no longer fit completely on the page due to their content size previously had to be manually adjusted to the page boundaries. From now on, this adjustment is made automatically as soon as frames extend beyond the page boundaries. This makes it easier to control overflows and reduces manual corrections, especially for large documents with dynamically generated content.
In addition, a number of technical details have been optimized to further increase stability and user-friendliness. These include corrections to the filtering of variant axes, improved sorting of search results, and the introduction of a length limit for labels. Handling cross-system user rights, more precise handling of regional settings, and optimized handling of server entries and the user cache further contribute to the reliability of the plugin in daily use.
