HMI: Creation, management, translation, and global delivery of user interface texts at TRUMPF
November 13, 2025 I 3:00 p.m. I Plenary Session 1
Frank Neidhart, Head of Technical Information, and Benjamin Russer, Software Manager, TRUMPF Werkzeugmaschinen SE + Co. KG
TRUMPF is one of the market and technology leaders for machine tools and laser technology. The machines are operated via a human-machine interface (HMI), which provides error messages and instructions for the operating personnel.
The previous solution for managing this content was outdated. TRUMPF was therefore looking for centralised, future-proof standard software for its more than 50 HMI development areas worldwide: NovaDB Smart Techdoc Solution
The presentation shows how TRUMPF introduced a modular text structure and new editorial workflows to improve the quality, consistency, and maintainability of HMI error messages and help texts. Particularly important: developers can now structure and maintain content themselves.

It takes a village: Collaboration and integration in technical documentation
November 12, 2025 I 5:30–6:15 p.m. I Room C7.2
Florian Ziche, Senior Software Architect, Noxum GmbH
Technical editing has a tradition of heroes and lone warriors—this applies to both the staff and the editing systems themselves. These epic times are coming to an end with the realization that workloads, knowledge, and processes need to be distributed more broadly within the company, and that system interfaces are becoming more important than their exclusive features. How can systems ensure that users can work efficiently on content at the same time without compromising data consistency? How is the traceability of processes ensured in such scenarios? And how does the editorial system itself communicate with other data sources and sinks (ERP, PLM, PIM, MAM, etc.)?
